Secure shopping cart
Shopify provides a reliable, secure shopping cart solution for your ecommerce website. The shopping cart software allows you to accept credit cards and PayPal payments by integrating with over 100 payment gateways.
Accept credit cards & PayPal
Customer can pay for items in their ecommerce shopping cart using Visa, Mastercard, Amex or other credit cards in addition to PayPal. Shopify uses a payment gateway to accept credit card payments.
If you want to get your online store set up in minutes, use PayPal to accept credit card payments. When you hit a high payment volume, you can easily upgrade to another payment gateway like Authorize.net or Stripe.
Payment gateways supported
Shopify integrates with over 100 payment gateways to allow your store to accept credit cards. The list of compatible payment gateways includes PayPal, Authorize.net, and Google Checkout and these others:
Your currency, tax rates and language
Your store’s shopping cart software is set up to use your local currency. It automatically calculates tax rates based on where your business and buyers are located.
You can also customize the checkout page into one of 50+ languages, or translate the shopping cart checkout page yourself. Existing shopping cart checkout languages include: Danish, Dutch, Spanish, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Chinese, Swedish, and others.
Easy shipping rate calculation
Set up rates for shipping your products based on product weight or prices. Alternatively, Advanced Shopify plan members can automatically calculate shipping rates from UPS, USPS or FedEx in real-time.
Automate shipping & fulfilment
Shopify connects with fulfillment services including Amazon Services, Shipwire, and Rakuten Super Logistics. These fulfilment services allow you to fill and ship orders from a warehouse with one click.
Mobile shopping cart
Shopify detects when a customer goes to the checkout using a mobile phone (iPhone, Android, Blackberry) and presents an optimized mobile shopping cart checkout.
Recover abandoned shopping carts
Shopify provides a list of email addresses of those that went to the checkout page, but never completed the purchase. Sending an email to those that abandoned their shopping cart can help you recover otherwise lost sales.
Free SSL certificate included
Your online store’s shopping cart includes an SSL certificate that uses industry standard 256-bit encryption technology. This is the same level of encryption used by large banks to keep your information secure.
Shopify provides a shared SSL certificate at no cost to all stores. Many other hosted ecommerce solutions will charge you hundreds of dollars every year for a SSL certificate.
Certified Level 1 PCI compliant
In order to accept Visa, Mastercard, and other credit cards, your shopping cart software and ecommerce hosting must be PCI compliant. Shopify is certified Level 1 PCI DSS compliant. This compliance extends to all online stores powered by Shopify.
We are very serious about security and have invested significant time and money to certify that Shopify is PCI compliant. From annual on-site assessments validating compliance to continuous risk management, we work hard to keep credit card and other sensitive data secure. Learn more about PCI compliance.
I’ve used and compared several different chopping cart solutions over the years…1ShoppingCart, Autorize.net, InfusionSoft, Clickbank, etc, etc, etc…
As you compare the different shopping cart options you will realize that there are pros and cons to EVERY one. You key is to choose the one that will best suit the needs of your specific business. Below is a quick overview of the best shopping cart options out there.
Digital Product Delivery – This is probably the easiest ways to sell digital downloads from any website. You will be able to have your product up and ready to sell within 30 minutes. You simply upload your product to DPD fast and reliable servers, Choose a payment processor, and put the add-to-cart button on your website.
Intergrates direct with GetResponse, Aweber, iContact, Google Analytics, PayPal, Clickbank, Stripe and Authorize.net.
DPD offers affordable flat-rate pricing so you don’t have to deal with high fees associated with options like Clickbank.
I would recommend DPD if you’re selling one-off products. However, if you require a built-in affiliate program – you probably will want to consider Clickbank.
Clickbank – As mentioned above, Clickbank is both a payment processor and shopping cart all in one. The problem with Clickbank is they have very high processing fees (7.5% plus $1on every sale). Plus, when using Clickbank you are always going to have higher refund rates and commission hijacking.
JVZoo – A pretty good option if you have products that are in the Internet Marketing arena. JVZoo allows you to get up and running fast. A big plus is that JVZoo allows you to pay your affiliates instantly. As soon as your affiliate makes a sale, they receive their commission in their PayPal account. Instant gratification and will get your affiliates selling more often for you.
DigiResults – Similar to JVZoo in terms of features. Instant payment to your affiliates via PayPal. Allows you to sell both physical or digital products. Intergrates directly with your autoresponder so you can add all new customers to a specific list. Plus, DigiResults offers a 2-tier affiliate program.
InfusionSoft – This is probably the premier shopping cart solution available online. They offer all-in-one solutions that handles your email marketing, CRW, shopping cart, and your affiliate program. It’s extremely flexible and feature packed, but at the same time it’s VERY technically involved.
One of my operating principles in my business is simplicity. I really like to keep everything pretty simple. Because of that I decided to use a simpler system that works best for my particular business.
Here’s that exact setup…
1. GetResponse for email marketing.
2. Stripe for payment processing. Allows you to accept PayPal & credit cards without a merchant account. Plus their fees are VERY low.
3. Wishlist Member houses most of my products.
4. LeadDyno runs my affiliate program.
The best part of this system is that all 4 of the above mentioned programs integrate seamlessly with each other.
Nanacast – Offers a lot of the same features as InfusionSoft but with a lesser learning curve. They offer one-click upsells, downsells, order page bumps, dime sales, fire sales, membership site management, and lots more.
1ShoppingCart– Has a lot of great features too and it’s definitely one to consider as well.
